Dr S. Sayyid is a Reader in the School of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds, and Director of the Centre of Ethnicity and Racism Studies. His publications explore culture and politics and the effects of the postcolonial condition on so-called 'mainstream socio-political processes and structures. He is the author of 'A Fundamental Fear: Eurocentism and the Emergence of Islamism', and a co-editor of 'A Postcolonial People: South Asians in Britain'. He is also a joint editor of the monograph series 'Postcolonial Horizons/Decolonial Studies' published by Pluto Press.
