Christiane König is assistent professor at the Anglo-American Institute of the History Departement at Cologne University where she teaches film (as cultural) history and media archaeology. As a film and media scholar she focusses mainly on feminist film theory, film as history of the senes, biological and informatic cybernetics, materiality of media, science and life studies, and also on gender and queer theory.

When District 9 was released…the film was an immediate box office hit…This was much to the surprise of critics, reviewers and bloggers, who seemed astonished…that a science fiction film with this impact could originate from South Africa.
